If you are the kind of individual that has a preference for the finer things in life, chances are that you would be extremely interested in the notion of getting yourself a rug at any given point in time. A big part of the reason why that is the case has to do with the fact that wall to wall carpeting allows you to turn the entirety of your floor into a comfortable place for people to sit, but the unique structure of carpets makes them prone to various insects entering them and forming large infestations before too long.
There are a number of different kinds of bugs that would love the idea of living in your carpet, but they usually only get the chance to survive if you drop food on your rug due to your carelessness. However, suffice it to say that carpet beetles are notorious for feasting on the carpet fibers themselves. These fibers are the only food source that they need in some way, shape or form, so you might need to spring for regular beetles extermination to keep them at bay.
Perhaps the best way to exterminate carpet beetles that are chewing away at your expensive handmade rug is to steam clean it. Water needs to get quite hot to transfer from a liquid state into a gaseous one, and this level of heat is usually far too much for the average beetle to bear. Most of the beetles would be killed inside of the carpet itself and you can vacuum them up once it has dried. The ones that were not killed will likely run out of your rug to some other place.
