Known precisely as one of the most artistically inclined pieces of furniture, the chesterfield sofa is in a class of its own. While it owes most of its popularity to its velvety soft or cow leather fabric, its button-tufted upholstery and Victorian legs of wood usually give it away. To know whether you’re ready for buying the chesterfield sofa or not, we have put together 3 essential tips that will come in handy.

Consider Your Living Space

When buying a sofa, the first question that comes to our mind is regarding its length and of course, whether or not it will complement or living space. The best chesterfield sofa might require at least 10 inches of arm space on either side, regardless of a three-seater or two-seater. Also, you have to consider the seating space as well. You can only go for a three-seater if your room is spacious and doesn’t look congested when it’s placed.

Check For Comfort And Maintenance

If you’re buying a chesterfield sofa based on its looks, then be sure to dive right into it. You need to remember two things. One, the chesterfield should be comfortable regardless of the button-tufted appearance. If you can’t sit on them, then try going for one that has button tufts only on the back of the sofa so that it’s comfortable. Two, is it easy to maintain? Can you regularly clean traditional fabrics, or should you go for something that’s more practical such as velvet or silk for cleansing regularly?

Coordinate It With The Rest of Your Furniture

Don’t just choose a chesterfield sofa that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the furniture. For instance, if most of your furniture is brown, then you can go for one in the same range. However, if you have black furniture, then you might need to reconsider your choices and go for one that doesn’t appear too alien.
